Taizé is a meditative time of worship featuring music, candlelight, Scripture and prayer.
The Taizé style service consists of meditative chant - the music is based on simplicity of text and phrase which is repeated several times. The chants are interspersed with a Psalm, two scripture readings, intercessory prayers and a time of silence where we open ourselves to God’s presence.
The Evening Prayer service in the form of Taizé takes place at St. Mary's on the 3rd Sunday of the month (September through to November, and January through to June) at 7:00 pm. These special services of quiet meditation can be personally rewarding.
