As I write each week to thank you so much for how you continue to reach out to the First Nation neighbours, I also pass along the thanks and gratitude from Sybil, who sent me the thanks from those who are in receipt of the food items.
“They so appreciate what we are doing to help them. Last week it worked out well to let our parishioners know exactly what Items were needed to make up the 9 bags of groceries on Sunday.”
So the following list is what is needed for next week, any items will make it easier to fill the bags!!
Items needed for next weeK. (1) Rice the 2 lb size works well. (2) Cans of Tomato sauce (3) Cans of Corn beef (4) Apple sauce - single use pkgs or large jars (5) Carrots, potatoes, onions (6) Apples, Oranges
For next Tuesday I have enough fruit juice, pasta and kraft dinner on hand but if there is a sale on these items people can still deliver them to my place.
Also, as Monday is a holiday, the delivery day will be Tuesday for next week only, so you could drop to Sybil on the Monday, this would work well if you are taking fresh fruit or veggies. Sybil Bagshaw. #16-1900 Cultra Ave. Food can be left at the front door if no one is home. If you need food picked up, please give me a call or email and I would be happy to come to you!
I had the privilege of working with Thea from Holy Trinity this past week which involved supplying cooked meals for the folks in the Tsawout community. On a hot evening preparing these meals helped me to reflect on how just how fortunate I am, where I live and a good supply of food and clean water!!! Some of our close neighbours are not in this same position and not being able to feed your family must be very distressing. I personally know it is not easy to ask for help, but the request has come from both Pacquachin and Tsawout First Nations, I thank you all for responding as you are able.
