St. Mary is closed today in observance of Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

There will be no Eucharist service or Bible Study this week. We look forward to welcoming  you back at our next regular service: Sunday, October 4.

We encourage you to find a local event or gathering led by or in partnership with Indigenous communities in the Greater Victoria area. September 30 is an opportunity to listen, learn, remember, and celebrate the strength and resilience of Indigenous peoples and cultures.

Here are a few local opportunities:

South Island Powwow — Royal Athletic Park
Wednesday, September 30 | 10:00 a.m.
Hosted by Songhees Nation, the South Island Powwow features Indigenous song, dance, drumming, cultural performances, guest speakers, food, and Indigenous vendors. The Grand Entry begins at noon. Free admission; everyone welcome.

Ride & Reconciliation — Songhees Point to Royal Athletic Park
Wednesday, September 30 | 8:30–11:00 a.m.
Capital Bike, in partnership with Victoria Orange Shirt Day and Songhees community members, is hosting its sixth annual Ride & Reconciliation. The approximately 9.2-km family-friendly ride begins at Songhees Point and travels to the South Island Powwow.

Truth & Reconciliation: A Gathering of Remembrance & Care
Wednesday, September 30 | 5:00–8:00 p.m.
Hosted by the Support Network for Indigenous Women & Women of Colour (SNIWWOC) at 990 Hillside Avenue, this gathering will include storytelling, reflection, community connection, and a bannock dinner, guided by local Elder Aldeen Mason.
